HOSPICE OF HARNETT COUNTY CELEBRATES 25 YEARS OF SERVICE

On November 6, Hospice of Harnett County hosted staff, current and former volunteers and board members, and local elected officials at Simply Divine in Dunn to celebrate 25 years of end-of-life services to those in Harnett County and surrounding areas.

Emceed by Linda Johnson, Hospice of Harnett County’s Advisory Committee chair, the program included the reading of a proclamation and the presentation of a United States flag that flew over the Capitol by U.S. Rep. Renee Ellmers, as well as words of praise from N.C. Sen. Harris Blake, Harnett County Commissioner Chair Timothy B. McNeill, and Dunn Mayor Pro Tem Carnell Robinson. Hospice of Wake County CEO John Thoma closed the program with an overview of the history of Hospice of Harnett County and a snapshot into the future: “We are working with the hospitals, physician groups, nursing homes, assisted living communities, and other community agencies such as home health to build a high quality, patient-centered continuum of care network. New services we are adding in this initiative are a palliative care team…for those who may not be eligible or ready for hospice…and a community grief center at our facilities on North Ellis Avenue [in Dunn].”
