Description
The family grief support groups provide an opportunity for grieving children, teens, and their parents/guardians to relate to others who have experienced a loss through death. These support groups engage participants in activities designed to help children, teens, and their families understand and express their feelings and find ways to cope with grief's challenges. The support groups are open to any child or teen who has had someone significant in their life die. The support groups meet once a week for eight weeks, beginning October 4 and ending November 22. A light supper is provided from 6-6:30pm for families to enjoy fellowship together, and families are separated into developmental age groups from 6:30-7:30pm. A separate group for adults is provided to address the challenges of adult grief and to discuss the difficulties of parenting grieving children and ways to support them. While there is no set fee to join the groups, your donations allow us to continue providing grief support to families in Wake County.
