Horizons Grief Center

Memories of people who are no longer here but who are never forgotten.

Horizons Grief Center is committed to providing compassionate care counseling and support to adults and children who are preparing for, or grieving, the loss of a family member or close friend.

Our support groups, educational programs and short-term counseling services are available to any member of the community as well as to families served by our hospice care teams.

“Each person’s grief journey is his or her own. There’s no fixed schedule. We make our services available to you when it’s appropriate, even if it’s two or three years later," notes Dean Leake, Bereavement Counselor.

One of the best ways to address grief issues is to talk about them with others who are also coping with the death of a loved one. Our Grief Center offers both daytime and evening support groups throughout the year. When possible, these groups are segmented by gender, age or loss such as a parent, child, spouse, or sudden traumatic loss.

Bereavement counselors lead each small group, comprised of 5-12 people, and create a safe place so you can learn healthy coping skills and feel supported during the healing process.

Adult groups offer…

  • Bereavement support groups
  • Individual and family focused grief counseling
  • Workshops- support utilizing healing activities, and special topics
  • Evenings of Remembrance – twice yearly memorial service
  • Professional bereavement counselors

Children and Teen groups offer…

  • Child grief support groups.
  • Teen grief support groups.
  • Camp Reflections–a camp for grieving families with activities designed to work on grief issues. Camp provides social interaction with other grieving families.
  • Lending Library/Media Center – a library with grief-focused resources for children, families, adults, and professionals.
  • AARVY AARVARK FINDS HOPE – a school-based, gentle, educational puppet show on loss, death and finding support for 3rd grade students.

Our support group series, workshops and individual counseling can help you manage the many confusing and often difficult issues regarding the grieving process.
