Indigent Patient Care
As a non-profit organization, Hospice of Wake County was founded on the promise never to refuse care for any patient based on inability to pay. To fulfill that promise, Hospice of Wake County established and maintains an indigent patient fund, from which the cost of extending care to patients without means can be paid.
Horizons Family Grief Center
Offers counseling, support groups, and workshops to children, teens, and adults who have experienced the pain of loss through death of a loved one.
The Endowment Fund
A significant pool of money and other assets which has been set aside by resolution of the board of trustees and which may be added to at the board’s discretion and by designated donations. Assets of the endowment are invested; the principal of it remains intact; and only interest generated from those investments (or the portion approved by the board) may be distributed. The endowment fund provides an important measure of financial stability for Hospice of Wake County by creating a predictable source of income for generations to come. That income stream can be used to underwrite the cost of current Hospice of Wake County programs, such as the Indigent Patient Fund and the Family Grief Center, or to respond to future needs related to growth in demand for hospice care and expansion of the service area.
